The local hangout, the cow field. We knew it in the early 80s as \"Shirk's field\" I expect that name came from the Schlick family who resided nearby years before who operated the hardware store on Harris road near Lougheed hwy. Never the less, it was our private and secluded spot as teens to hang out at night or race around in cars or motor bikes in the day time. There were a lot of memories there that became distant when the now present subdivision was erected. I recall late gatherings with kids showing up from Pitt Meadows and beyond. I recall circles of cars and trucks with all of their their lights on to illuminate the gatherings. The photos attached are from graduation time at PMSS in 1982. A bunch of us kids started a bit of a driving and cruising club called the Pitt Meadows Rat Racing team. Just an excuse to drive clunkers and race them around in the mud and backroads. Pictured in photo 1 is some of the team gathered at the field. L to R are Michelle Bozek, Robin Hall, Andrew Dondo, Tim Priebe, Gerry Badger, Brent Caughy and Barry Lamb. All PM residents. The 1971 Datsun was known as \"Earle\", Mr. Dondo being the owner. Pitt Meadows was a quieter place back then and the young folks made our own fun.<\/p>\r\n
