The Pitt Meadows Womens' Institute (P.M.W.I) incorporated on February 7,1921. It was established by prominent Pitt Meadows residents who actively served in the community. Women such as Mary Jane Harris, Edith McDermott, and Mrs. Blaney. The group strived to bring culture, entertainment, health and educational opportunities to the community and worked hard to establish a library.<\/p>\r\n

The women that have been identified are the following: In the middle row, the 2nd from the left is Martha Louise (Allen) Ford. The first woman on the left (2nd row) is Mrs. Blaney (ne: Nettie Miller). The lady on the far left of 2nd row is a Blaney. Two from the right in same row is Edith McDermott and to her right is Mary Jane Harris. In the back row, third from left is Mrs. George McQueen Anderson, (Isabelle Reid). This photo was taken in Pitt Meadows. The date of when this photo was taken is unknown.<\/p>\r\n
?<\/span>One of the Pitt Meadows Womens' Institute's activities was participating in the Pitt Meadows fair. The second image is a letter from Blue Ribbon Limited. In this letter the company writes that they will donate four cash prizes for the Blue Ribbon Tea Biscuit competition. The first place cash prize is $3.00!<\/p>\r\n The third image shows a letter from the Farm and Home Journal. The letter explains that Farm and Home will sponsor the Womens' Institute at the fair by donating a silver cup to be given to the winner. In return, Farm and Home would use as much space as desired to presumably advertise at the fair.<\/p>\r\n ?<\/span>The fourth image shows the Judges' comments about the submitted entries such as fruit cakes and embroidery.
