The Maple Ridge Hospital opened on that day in 1958, it was only two floors with 63 beds and 67 employees. The third floor would open to outpatients and diagnostics in the 1960s, the first residential wing in 1973, ICU and surgical areas opened in 1988. It was through countless hours of work from a group of dedicated women that the hospital opened. In 1953, the Hospital Auxiliary started fundraising to build the hospital.
