My sister, Judy (Barnes) Rock, was the first librarian in the little house on Harris Road. I’m not sure how long she was there, but eventually it was decided that the librarian needed to have a specialized degree (Judy had a BA in English),so a new librarian was hired (Sandy?). Library Van

The Library Van travelled “around the bog” every second Friday while I was a child (50s and 60s). It was part of the Fraser Valley Regional Library, as you have noted, and came to us from Abbotsford. The driver was Herman Keys, and the lady who rode with him (probably a librarian?) was Bunty Green. Our home on Kennedy Road was their last stop, and they always came in for tea, chocolate cake and a visit after we, and the neighbours, had chosen our books. Herman was a veteran of WWII, so he and Dad had a few things in common. Herman also sold tickets for the Irish Sweepstakes......Dad never won! We looked forward the the Library Van’s arrival, both for the books and the visit. I can’t remember when they stopped running. My sister, Judy (Barnes) Rock, was the first librarian in the little house on Harris Road. I’m not sure how long she was there, but eventually it was decided that the librarian needed to have a specialized degree (Judy had a BA in English),so a new librarian was hired (Sandy?). Liz Bruce (nee: Barnes) supplied this memory for us after seeing our library history post on Facebook in February, 2019. The image is of her father, Jimmy Barnes', farm on Kennedy Road.
