Baseball in Canada can be traced back to the 1800s, the first time it was played was in the 1830s in Red River and in 1838 in Ontario. The first official game in Canada came in 1886. The game became widely played in Canada, it was also easy to play as all one needed was players, a club, and a ball. At one time it was even considered to be named as Canadas National Sport. Unfortunately for Canadians the game has become widely viewed as the all-American pass time. American major leagues did not include a Canadian team in the National League until 1969 (the team was the Montreal Expos who would be moved in 2004 to Washington). The Toronto Blue Jays joined the American League in 1977 and won the World Series in 1992 and 1993. The team representing British Columbia is the Vancouver Canadians. In 2003 an attempt was made to create the Canadian Baseball league but it folded halfway through its first season.
