Husband – Chohei Fukuzawa born on March 31st 1885. Occupation: Farm labourer. Exiled to Japan on October 2nd 1946
Wife – Kishi Fukuzawa (stayed in Japan – never interned)
Child– Hanoko or Hanako Fukuzawa (stayed in Japan – never interned)
Chohei Fukuzawa was a Farm labourer. He was married to Kishi Fukuzawa who remained in Japan with their child Hanoko Fukuzawa. It is unknown if he intended to remain in Canada and bring his family back over, or if he wished to return to Japan. Regardless, he was exiled back to Japan on October 2nd 1946. We lose track of him once he returned to Japan.
Chohei and Kishi were listed on the 1931 Canadian Census as living in Pitt Meadows. Chohei entered Canada in 1904, and Kishi entered in 1926. It is unknown when or why she left Pitt Meadows and was in Japan by 1942.
Through the Landscapes of Injustice, the Internment Records for each family member are now accessible. There are no records for Kishi and Hanoko/Hanako Fukuzawa as they remained in Japan.
