HusbandKunizo Mori - Born on December 19th, 1889. Occupation: Self Employed Farmer. Passed away January 10th, 1980, in Winnipeg.
WifeUmeyo Mori (Nee: Umeyo Sano) – Born on February 20th, 1894. Occupation: Housewife. Married Kunizo on December 29th, 1913, in Victoria. Passed away on March 10th, 1966.
 
Children 
  • Kyosuke Mori (Son) – Born on April 28th, 1923. Occupation: Farmer Passed away January 1st, 2004
  • Sumiyo Mori (Daughter) – Born on August 24th, 1921. Occupation: Student at Maple Ridge High School.
  • Chizuko Mori (Daughter) – Born on March 8th, 1920. Occupation: Home Helper.
 
The family had more children who were not listed on internment records in 1942 (Toshiko and Mikihiko).

History of the Mori Family

Kunizo and Umeyo were born in Japan. Kunizo entered Canada in 1909, and Umeyo entered in 1913. They were married on December 29th, 1913 in Victoria. By 1931, according to the Canadian Census, the family was living in Pitt Meadows with their five children (Toshiko, Mikihiko, Chizuko, Sumiyo and Kyosuke).

In April 1942, the family was forcibly removed from Pitt Meadows to Manitoba.

History of their lives after leaving Pitt Meadows

We do not know what happened to Kunizo, Umeyo, Toshiko, Mikihiko, or Chizuko after the family left Pitt Meadows except for Kunizo and Umeyos date of passing. Kunizo, Umeyo, Sumiyo, and Kyosuke remained in Manitoba.

Robert Kyosuke Mori married Mary in May of 1948. They had several children, Marlene, Doreen, Ken, and Dan. Robert Kyosuke worked mainly for CP Express as a truck driver before his retirement in 1986. He passed away on January 1st 2004.

Sumiyo married Toshio Charlie Yamada and they had two children (Gerald and Perry). In 1949 she began nursing training at Brandon Medical School and in 1953 she graduated as a registered psychiatric nurse. She retired after 25 years of service at the Deer Lodge Veteran’s Hospital. She passed away on March 3rd, 2015. She was the last surviving child of Kunizo and Umeyo Mori.
